Updating our Camaro 3rd Gen BumbleBee Build
Well its been a very long build and we are coming down to the final push to get BumbleBee on the trailer before Thursday. I have been pretty much living on 3 or 4 hours of sleep for weeks now. Pretty much the whole team is looking exhausted and worn out. The good news is we are almost done. The bad news (and good) is that we now get to run this bastard (sorry BumbleBee) and we’ll be showing up Thursday ready to rumble.
BumbleBee looking sporty with its 33. Added ass bonus. Bernie putting together the new fan for the defrost.
Driver Side
Looking pretty mean from the front…
Lemons roll cage being installed (Cage from RollCageComponets.com)
Brian welding
Jenine’s uncle Roy putting in door bars. Don’t worry he’ll never see the pic, he’s afraid of the internets. Seriously we were all exhausted and needed some reinforcement. Between paintman Gary Sparks and Cage Welding Roy they caught us up pretty nice. Thanks a ton we owe ya beer or two! YEAH MORE!
Drivers seat mocked up GEESH its tight in there for us tall folks
Little further done, note the missing windshield due to a rouge sawzaw. I wonder who….
Putting the front end together and mocking up headlight covers
A look at the cockpit…24 hours…likely in the rain…there will be business completed in this cabin….

Its not BumbleBee without black stripes

Jenine and Gary continued their painting skills to get the black on the car while I was away at work.

Taken this morning before I went to work. The numbers are on, the stripes are on, and we are in the process of doing the rear brakes. Its final go time. Lemons Racers fall in! 10 Days to go!

Welcome to my back yard also known as a paint booth
BumbleBee getting his first coat of primer…
First coat of primer done…
Drying. See I knew there was a reason we kept that other parts car a little longer…
Next layer of primer is done…
First hint of $27/gal New Holland tractor yellow…
More yellow
Yellower
Starting to get dark now, bugs are coming out and there’s water coming out of the spray gun every once in a while.
Almost dark, you know its lemons style when you paint a car before a rainstorm in the dark.
First coat of yellow.
Dark and its getting wet, trying to race to get it done now…
Hood is done.
Lights are needed to paint now, the bugs are seriously landing on the car causing problems.
See I told you there were bugs
Painted and sitting in garage..

Bodywork is done now heading to our make shift paint booth
Bumble bee is as smooth as we can make him in a couple days
Gary get’s ready to shoot red BumbleBee into a tractor yellow BumbleBee. Its still missing the fender because we STILL have holes in the floorboard that will likely get patched in the coming days.
Next to one of the two parts car. The one on the right while looking cool smells like squirrel ass inside and has a iron duke 4 cylinder under the hood. We’ll take the wheels and tires and throw the rest away….

Doing the body work…lots of body work
Yeah I know its a lemons racer and we could have raced it rust and all but its also a active participant in our wedding which just happens to be at the race so we asked BumbleBee to dress up a bit. Its also not BumbleBee without being yellow. So we wanted to make sure the paint stuck and the fenders didn’t fall off going down the road.
Jenine’s dad helped out with the body work to make it not look like a giant clump of bondo…
Bernie got a taste for body work, he also burned a couple holes through the hood. Good thing its a lemon….
Almost ready to head off to paint…
